Will of Samuel CROFT (ca.1802)Page: 10 September 1886 
"I hereby direct that after my death all my estate (illegible) or  
personal whatsoever and wheresoever, (together with the oven and 
grate in kitchen) shall be sold by public auction by Messrs. 
Pickering and Nightingale Auctioneers of St. Werburgh Street in the 
City of Chester. "

Samuel Rigby Pickering and his father John had an   auctioneers/valuers business in Eastgate Chester called PICKERING Sons   and Woodfin (listed in 1878 Post Office Directory).  Father John was   originally a pawnbroker, and son Samuel went on to become PICKERING   & Nightingale at St Werburgh St by the year 1896 (Kelleys   directory).  Samuel was born in 1846 at 32 Francis Street, and his   mother was Elizabeth Rigby.  John and Elizabeth were probably born   c1820's
